Ensuring that the heads of the preliminary investigation bodies comply with the rule of law in the investigation of criminal cases

The article is devoted to the study of the role of the head of the preliminary investigation body in the system of internal affairs of the Russian Federation to ensure compliance with the principle of legality in the investigation of criminal cases. Despite the procedural independence of the investigator, enshrined in the Criminal Procedure Law, the head of the investigative body must constantly monitor its activities in order to prevent mistakes that entail illegal criminal prosecution, violation of the constitutional rights of participants in the process.
