The article considers the meaning of modern humanism as worldview and ideology as well as its influence on a person, his activities and traits. The subject of the research is various aspects of this teaching: ethical, axiological, ontological, praxeological, psychological, methodological, political and spiritual-cultural. The methodology is based on the critical and systematic approaches that make it possible to reveal the eclecticism and contradiction of the ideology of modern humanism. In accordance with the selected aspects of which the theoretical analysis is made the identification of humanism and humanity is not justified and false, and ethical teaching acts as a screen covering other elements of this worldview. Recognizing a person as the highest value as a basic assumption leads to a human absolutization and ideological anthropocentrism. As ideology modern humanism forms an egoistic consuming personality. The proclamation of science as the only criterion for true knowledge significantly narrows the scope of spiritual mastery of the world and puts a person on the wrong path of relationship with it causing many problems. In the political aspect, humanism acts as the ideology of the capitalist system in the form of the socio-political doctrine of liberalism and neoliberalism being a mechanism for the reproduction of a consumer and egoistic personality as a basis for capitalist socio-political system reproduction. The leveling of the highest spiritual criteria and the recognition of a person as measure of all things determine pluralism and relativism in the worldview, where utilitarism and economic benefit become the main criteria, which condition the spiritual degradation of a personality and culture as a whole. In general, on the basis of the analysis made, it is concluded that humanism is the ideology of dehumanization, returning a person to natural and animal grounds which is the direct cause of the all-round crisis of modern society, which has affected the economic, social, political and spiritual spheres. Overcoming this crisis is impossible without changing the attitude towards humanism and reorienting society and an individual to the spiritual criteria.
