Substantiation of the expediency of GIS’s introduction and its integration with the economic systems of the sea transport enterprises

The article inquires into questions of introduction of geoinformation systems in the economy of Russia and their advantages over other information systems. The author considers aspects of their implementation in the sea transport, and presents results of efficiency calculations for GIS integrated with the economic systems of transport enterprises in the sea commercial port.
