Justification of economic efficiency of beet production based on increasing of the competitiveness of its products in the Orel region

The issue of the effectiveness of sugar beet production in the region and ways to increase its competitiveness are considered in the article. According to the authors, interest in this problem is due to the fact that sugar beet production is one of the systems forming sphere of the agro-industrial complex. For the effective functioning of the sugar beet complex, close interaction of all enterprises included in its structure is necessary, which will reduce all types of resource costs, from production and processing to waste utilization. The production of high-quality products is impossible without the introduction of modern technologies that take into account scientifically grounded consumption rates with direct adherence of environmental requirements in the production and sale of products. The yield and sugar content of sugar beet are the defining indicators that make possible to assess the efficiency of the beet-growing farms. In 2020, the average yield of sugar beet was 405 c / ha, the highest was in the Korsakovo district (486 c / ha), the lowest - 268.5 c / ha was in the Krasnosorensky district. According to the authors, the solution to the problem will be possible only through achieving high quality of the produced seeds and root crops of sugar beet, diversification of production directed at expanding of the products range, production of liquid sucrose, concentrated solutions of glucose and fructose, inverted syrups, resource conservation and ecologization, using of available resources for getting the largest amount of products. The competitiveness of sugar beet production is the priority state task that is related to the stabilization of the food market in the region and, in this regard, it needs government support, which makes it possible to reduce imports, as well as to support the domestic producers. The authors found that the production efficiency of the sugar beet industry is directly related to the growth of labor productivity, the introduction of modern technologies, a decrease in cost, and thus, each farm has the opportunity to receive additional profit.
