Feminine designations in Old Frisian

The paper discusses gender-marked terms (feminine designations) in Old Frisian. Status of women in the Frisian society as well as the tools of gender-marked word-formation are in the paper’s focus. 5 lexical categories are analysed: basic concepts, woman as wife, woman in the clerical and professional domains, women-related legal terms, swear-words and nicknames (surnames) attested in regard to women.
