Image of the foreigner in A.P. Chekhov prose: deconstruction of ethnic stereotypes

This paper analyzes image of the foreigner and reveals features of ethnic stereotypes reflection in the consciousness of the perceiving character and the author in A. P. Chekhov's prose of the 1880s and 1900s. The conclusion is drawn that ethnic stereotypes aren't ends in themselves for Chekhov and characterize the characters' consciousness. The author is interested in human ethics and values of any nationality.
