Image of young girl in Russian novels by V. Nabokov in context of Gogol tradition

On the example of analysis of young girl's image the author reviews the question of V. Nabokov's orientation to Russian literature experience, in particular artistic experience of N. Gogol. The article shows Nabokov's succession in development of certain Gogol's artistic world trends in novels “Mashenka”, “Pinhole Camera”, “Gift”: portrait description of a hero, type of demonic young girl, plot features, idealized hero image. The article reveals differences between Nabokov and Gogol.
