The image of indigenous peoples of Siberia in the Siberian press of 1917

In the study the image of indigenous people of Siberia in local press in 1917 was considered. The problem of local population became most relevant in 1917, turning point for national history. It was obvious that in the conditions of revolutions and transformations position of "indigenous" population could not but become an important question. Siberian oblastnik and other advanced local intellectuals saw the task of maintenance and protection of the rights of the Siberian people. Many of them acted with the idea of granting an autonomy and independence to them. At the same time there was a lawful question, and how sincerely there were these desires. Whether oblastnik and the intellectuals really wished to help local people, but former orders and the attitudes towards them, as well as imperial administration did not share. One of the tools which can help to solve this question was the analysis of the language which was used at the statement of these problems. The texts of newspaper publications, their stylistics and context within which there were problems of foreign population were analysed...
