Liberal's image in conservative political journalism of Russian empire at turn of XX century

The article is concerned with the process of a liberal’s image development in conservative circles of imperial Russia in the early XXth century. Examples of social and political journalism by I. Ya. Gurland, the head of the government newspaper “Rossiya”, as well as of other right-wing representatives are analysed. The use of various techniques to discredit Russian liberalism is considered.
