Image of Russia in the British network newspaper The Guardian: discourse and evaluation aspect (on the material of publications during the World Cap 2018)

The article reviews the evaluative content of the image of Russia covered by online publications at The Guardian relating to discursive interaction in media, sports and political spheres during World Cup 2018 in Russia. The research elicits the dynamics of representation of explicit meanings in online publications which have the high level of relevance in international communication. The analysis is based on the British journalists’ opinion about the coverage of Russia by British online media. The article specifies the grounds for object evaluation in compliance with their nominate functions in the evaluative structure of statement.
