The image of the city of Stalingrad in Konstantin M. Simonov's novel "Days and nights"

The specificity of the description of the city of Stalingrad in Konstantin Si-monov’s novel «Days and Nights» is examined in the article. Simonov creates a real image of the city, which is simultaneously presented as a symbol of the Motherland. Special attention is paid to the transformation of the image of the city and to its defenders.
