The image of troll in the Scandinavian literary fairy tale

This article is devoted to the analysis of evolutionary process ofa folklore troll, which moves to the pages of the literary fairytale. As a subject of study were chosen texts by E.Beskov,A.Valenberg, S. Lagerlyof . Comparison of folklore and literaryfairy tales allows to say that the troll, becoming the author'scharacter, gains bright anthropomorphous features. However,the humanifying often has negative character when this figureturns into the allegory of the dark side of human soul. Despitenumerous attempts of the troll to get into the human world, allhis efforts are doomed to failure. In turn, the personsuccessfully seizes the territories of trolls by blowing upmountains and cutting down the woods.
