Foundation of Mozdok town and resettlement of Volga and don Cossacks

The article deals with an urgent issue of Cossacks colonization in the Northern Caucasus and building of Mozdok town. The author discusses preconditions of the town building and resettlement of the Cossacks from Volga and Don regions to the territories of the Central Caucasus. Special attention is paid to the reasons impelled Russian military headquarters to reinforce their influence in the region by winning indigenous population to their side.
