Educational environment as a tool of ethno-confessional relations’ harmonization in the Vologda oblast

The Russian Federation is a multiethnic and multiconfessional state, that is why the problem of harmonizing ethno-confessional relations and maintaining the society’s stability is significant and relevant. The purpose of this work is to study the level of interethnic and interfaith tension in the student community. The objective of the study is to identify the main areas and forms of tutorial work in the educational environment that contribute to the prevention of interethnic and interfaith conflicts. Research methods: the method of analysis of documentary sources, the method of social forecasting (extrapolation), the method of questioning, systematic method, comparative analysis. The development of monitoring of interethnic and interfaith tension, the factors intensifying conflicts in a multicultural society were studied by the following domestic scientists, V.A. Tishkov, M.Yu. Martynova, V.V. Stepanov, G.U. Soldatova, S.V. Ryzhova, V.I. Mukomel, S.M. Shirokogorov. The problem of multicultural education, preventing the radicalization of youth and the formation of interethnic communication culture in the student community were studied in the works of N.M. Romanenko, L.P. Kostikova, S.A. Borgoyakov, R.S. Boziev. This article analyzes various aspects of ethno-confessional relations. Particular attention is paid to the factors influencing the emergence and dynamics of interethnic tension, the ways to reduce it in the educational environment are considered. In order to identify the state of interethnic and interfaith relations in the student audience of the Vologda State University, the author conducted a survey. As a result of the survey, the data confirming the status of the Vologda Oblast as a relatively prosperous region from the point of view of interethnic relations were obtained. Along with this, there are risks of interethnic tension among the young people. All this indicates the need for comprehensive information and tutorial work in the educational environment. The published research results can be used both for scientific purposes and in practical work in the field of national, educational and youth policy.
