Images of outsiders in the context of christianization

The article deals with features of Christianity dissemination among Buryats in the late 19 th - early 20 th centuries, which were not touched upon earlier in the national history of culture and religion. Competing with Buddhism and shamanism the Orthodox preachers used images of outsiders. Dichotomy “outsider -insider” was based on the specific ethic principles of the Orthodox ideology, where outsiders could become insiders.
