The relevance of the study is due to the sharp increase in the number of migrants from Africa in Great Britain, the strengthening of their influence in modern public life and differences in expert assessments of this phenomenon. The topic is being developed for the first time in Russian historiography and is warranted in the system of the general problems of modern history. A wide list of English-language sources has been drawn. The historical facts of the emergence and development of African public organizations and movements in the UK are noted. The first few public organizations of British Africans originated long before the mass migration from the countries of the Afro-Asian region to Western Europe. Their organizational activities paved the way for the rise of the social movement of African migrants at the turn of the 20th - 21st centuries. The modern African diasporas of Great Britain are very active in social terms; over the past decades, several thousand organizations of various orientations have been created (charitable, human rights, educational, female, sport, youth, professional, consulting, etc.). The country’s authorities are encouraging social activity of migrants from Africa. The author believes that their influence in the UK will increase.
