Late 1980s – early 1990s in Chechen-Ingushetia can be viewed as a socio-political crisis due to the stage of Perestroika in 1985–1991 in Soviet society, which affected almost all aspects of the country's life. During this period the regional opposing groups (Popular Front, Caucasus, Niiskho, Bart, Vainakh Democratic Party, OKChN, etc.) created a political confrontation. There was a stable tendency for the deterioration of the socio-political, socio-economic and criminal situation in the region. The political perestroika in the country and the driving factors of the collapse of the USSR led to the rise of the national movement in the Chechen-Ingush Republic as well. The author analyses the problems that contributed to further changes in the social environment of the republic, expressed in social and political informal movements. They became the main prerequisites for the crisis of the 1990s, the consequences of which led to chaos and political confrontation for the next decade
