Public views of the factors and causes of the South Ossetia population movement

The authors study the factors and causes of population movement in South Ossetia. The study was mainly conducted on the basis of a comparative analysis of the results of mass and expert surveys conducted in 1980, 2010 and 2020 in order to study the problems and consequences of the outflow of population from the republic. The analysis showed that, despite a slight decrease in the severity of the problem, there is still a need to develop and implement an effective migration policy in South Ossetia. The use of the results of the analysis, combined with statistical information, will make it possible to compile a more complete and objective picture of the migration situation in the republic and will help to identify the complicating reasons for it. All this can help the leadership of the republic in making the most optimal decisions in this area.
