The article deals with the implementation of the social function of philosophical knowledge and the possibility of development of a practice-oriented course “Philosophy” for students majoring in engineering and technical sciences. The authors emphasize the need to update the fundamental ideological potential of an individual. The philosophy is considered as a resource that meets a fundamental human need for self-determination and develops core competencies that are in demand in all societies at all times. The paper provides examples of creative tasks, allowing one to implement the philosophy as a certain life strategy.
