Teaching to read as a general pedagogical problem

The article describes the dependency of the ability to read from the type of culture. The linguistic component of the problem is emphasized. The author investigates four types of culture and related forms of language: tribal culture and active language structure; ergative structure described by Plato and Confucius; nominative structure studied by Aristotle; latest multi-culture and language multi-structure. It is shown that the modern Russian schools focus on teaching only the nominative form of the language and on the development of the Aristotelian type of culture, that's why about 2/3 of the students who represent other cultures and forms of language - cannot get stable reading skills.
