The article discusses approaches to teaching of speaking German in Germany and Russia. The author analyzes extrinsic and intrinsic motivation to mastering spoken language by adults. There are examples of practical solutions of how to build speaking skills used in the textbooks for German as a foreign language and at the profession-oriented German language courses.
