Actual aspects of teaching students of engineering universities in graphic disciplines in the context of the formation of general professional and universal competencies of future specialists are considered. It is shown that graphic education has turned into a bottleneck in the training of engineers. As one of the tools to help overcome this bottleneck, to intensify and raise the level of teaching graphic disciplines, a method for analyzing specific situations is proposed. Various types of implementation of this method are presented, arguments are expressed in favor of its use in combination with traditional and innovative teaching methods.
