The article discusses approaches to the study of grammar in foreign language teaching of Russia and Germany. The author reviews the textbooks for beginners of Russian and German publishers, the examples of practical tasks. The author shows differences in the presentation of grammar in German and Russian textbooks, in particular, that German authors include some grammar material into the lexical material of the topic. The article formulates the main principles of the successful learning of foreign language grammar (visual presentation of explanation, comparative analysis of rules of native and foreign languages, etc.).
