Professional service and physical training of employees of the internal affairs bodies is an integral part of improving the effectiveness of their activities. Improving the physical fitness of cadets of educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia is of particular importance, contributing to more effective performance of operationally significant tasks. The article is devoted to the issues of personal safety training for cadets in the framework of physical training classes. The theoretical aspects of personal safety, including physical, psychological and tactical training, are considered. Special attention is paid to the role of physical training in the formation of skills necessary to effectively counter threats in the professional activities of law enforcement officers. Using the example of the Oryol Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia named after V.V. Lukyanov, modern approaches to training cadets, including the use of innovative methods and practice - oriented training, are revealed.
