The article is devoted to a historiographical review of Russian-Mongolian cooperation in the field of education of Mongolian students. It includes an impressive array of diverse scientific works of both Russian and Mongolian researchers. We adhere to the problematic-chronological principle adopted in scientific historiography. This allowed us to divide the research topic into a number of compound problems, and study them chronologically. Education of Mongolian students in Eastern Siberia has a long history. It was particularly well developed after 1921, due to the political changes that occurred in both countries. After the end of the Great Patriotic War, a new stage of educational contacts between the USSR and the MPR began. The main training centers for personnel of the Mongolian People's Republic were situated in the towns of Eastern Siberia, including Irkutsk, Verkhneudinsk, and Troitskosavsk. A significant part of Mongolia’s political elite, intellectuals and workers in a wide range of occupations were trained in the educational institutions of Eastern Siberia. They became mediators of Soviet socialist culture in the Mongolian nomadic society.
