The article is a review of publications dedicated to the IV Missionary Congress in Kyiv, which took place in 1908 and was timed to coincide with the 800th anniversary of the Kiev-St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery. The article highlights the key moments of the congress, the decisions taken and its results, as well as the reaction to the congress in the modern press. Special attention was paid to the work of the eight specialized commissions within the congress, formed on the initiative of the chairman of the congress, Archbishop Anthony (Khrapovitsky) of Volyn and Zhitomir: anti-schismatic, co-religionist, anti-sectarian, anti-Catholic, ecclesiastical-doctrinal, organizational, editorial and anti-Mohammedan. The main result of the congress was that its participants identified and outlined not only the problems that the Russian Orthodox Church faced after the adoption of the Manifesto of April 17, 1905, but also ways to solve them.
