The article is devoted to one of the most important topics in the field of management information systems - expert systems. The study presents an overview of various types of expert systems and a brief history of their development. The positive and negative aspects of such systems, as well as problems that are still at the stage of research and testing are considered. The main elements and features of building the structure of the expert system are indicated.
