In breeding work with beef cattle breeds, the assessment of the breeding qualities of sires is of exceptional importance. Numerous studies have established a positive correlation between the growth of bulls aged 8-15 months. (0.5-0.9), their weight at 12-15 months of age (0.5-0.9), payment for food (0.3-0.4), body shape (0.3- 0.4), on the one hand, and similar indicators of their descendants, on the other. This allows one to reliably judge their breeding value based on data on the own meat productivity of young bulls. In countries with developed beef cattle breeding, a two-stage method for assessing breeding bulls has become widespread - based on the results of testing their own productivity with subsequent assessment of the quality of offspring raised in certain (optimal) conditions. Sons and daughters of reliable origin are left for the offspring to be assessed for quality. Intensive rearing of young animals should be carried out from 8 to 15 months of age. The general feeding level should be designed for a gain of at least 1000 g per day in bulls and 750 g in heifers. To repair the own herd, sires and bull calves are left, assessed by their own productivity with an index of A = 100.0 or more.
