Globalization, rapid technological development, climate change, social conflicts and economic instability require society to search for deep principles on which to build a sustainable future. Traditional values can be a guide in times of uncertainty. In times of crisis, it is important to remember the foundations on which our society is built. Turning to traditional values helps maintain social stability. Values serve as the basis for the formation of identity, strengthen social ties and create a sense of belonging. In particular, values related to family and community help people to unite and overcome difficulties together. The paper examines the system of traditional spiritual and moral values of the Russian civilization and assesses the value sustainability of the region using the example of the Kursk region. The index of value sustainability of the region is presented and its calculation is carried out. A regression analysis of the relationship between GRP and the index is carried out. Conclusions are made about the stability of social relations in the region and level of its socio-economic development.
