In solving regional problems, the importance of relevant, complete, structured and accessible information on the geography, quantity, volume and morphology of solid waste is increasing. The purpose of this study is evaluating the role of digitalisation for the efficient solving of questions in the waste management system. In this regard, the paper illustrates the world, domestic, and regional experience of digitalization, proposes digital tools to solve regional problems, assesses the application level of digital solutions. The region is at the initial stage of forming the digital transformation system and advancing the digitalisation process. Among the positive aspects of this introduction – control by the population and the regional operator for the transportation, volume and time of municipal solid waste removal from its collection points; clarification of the volume of waste generation by the population; determination of residual volume of all polygons of the region; development of own electronic model of territorial scheme. The main reasons for the restrictions are the insufficient provision of Internet communication in the region, the high cost of information innovations and especially its maintenance, the strict requirement to use only domestic technologies, and the dependence on government support.
