The article analyses the problem of measurability of the quality of education by means of types of external assessment of the activity of higher educational institutions adopted in the world practice: institutional, socialprofessional and rating assessment. The author proves the necessity of further development of assessment of a specified activity with the use of rating technologies as an efficient instrument of the quality of education management.
