Assessment of factors of increasing labor productivity in the region

The current period of the development of rural area is characterized by many negative trends: the population is declining both as a result of natural decline and migration outflow, an increase in the proportion of over working age population, a decrease in the employed, etc. The agricultural sector is experiencing a scarcity of qualified personnel. Employment of labor resources in agricultural production in the immediate future seems to be a rather complicated issue, which is reflected in many program documents. Therefore, under current conditions, increasing labor productivity is one of the key directions of development of the agricultural sector and its competitiveness. The aim of the study is to assess the level of labor productivity and the main factors of its increase in the municipal districts of the Ulyanovsk region. The study shows the analysis of such factors as labor supply, salary level, funding, production and sales of products. The results of the study have shown a significant spatial disproportion of the level of labor productivity in the districts of the region and the ambiguity of the influence of factors. Fixed assets and the sales of products cause a significant impact on labor productivity; a moderate impact is caused by salary level. The study allows considering the potential reserves of labor productivity growth for each district of the region and is a practical tool for developing measures to increase it.
