Studies of phytogenic activity of tissues in leaves and roots of some decorative wood-brush plants

The phytogenic properties of the leaves and roots of some species of decorative plants of park communities were studied using the test-culture. We found, that the high level of phytogenic action is exhibited by the aqueous extract of Berberis soulieana Schneid and Myrtus communis L. leaves. Components of root tissues also showed significant phytogenic activity. The substances from the roots of Pyracantha crenulata (D.Don) Roem. caused the most negative influence on the the test-culture. We distinguished two groups of plants, according to the differentiation of phytogenic activity of the above- and underground. The first includes species with higher phytogenic properties of the leaf tissues in comparison with root tissues. Representatives of the second group have the opposite characteristic. The positive relationship between changes in phytogenic activity of leaf and root tissues was revealed.
