Assessment and mechanism of ensuring the economic security of the region

The article is devoted to the assessment of the level of economic security of the region and the development of a mechanism for ensuring it on the example of the Chelyabinsk Region. Based on the primary statistical data and the conducted calculations, the level of economic security of the region has been assessed using the threshold values of the parameters. The indicators that constitute the greatest threat to the socio-economic stability of the region have been identified. In order to achieve a new quality of security and stability of the regional economic system, recommendations for the development of the region have been proposed, taking into account the traditional industry specifics. The transition to the formation of the “smart” industry sector on the basis of an advanced technological structure has been justified. The universal mechanism for ensuring economic security has been developed, which contributes to improving the effectiveness of strategic management decisions and forming the stability of the subjects of the Russian Federation in relation to external and internal threats, as well as reducing the vulnerability factors of economic development. The results of the study can be used to manage the strategic development of regions and update priority development programs and projects.
