Agricultural organizations in the Orel region produce more than 86% of livestock products. The leading branch of livestock farming is dairy and beef cattle breeding, accounting for 85% of the revenue structure. However, for the period of 2015-2023 the average annual number of cattle decreased by 22.6%, including cows by 33.5%, which in turn resulted in a significant decrease in the number of machine milking operators by 50.1%, and livestock breeders by 36.0%. In solving the problem of increasing the production volume of the Russian agro-industrial complex by 25% by 2030, agroeconomic science also plays a special role, which, through system analysis, should critically identify trends, weak points and determine the factors and conditions for the innovative development of each industry. A critical analysis of natural and cost indicators of labor productivity was carried out, an assessment of the mechanism for stimulating the work of workers was made and its role in increasing the economic efficiency of livestock industries was substantiated using materials from agricultural organizations in the Orel region. An increase in the cost indicator of labor productivity is associated not only with the technological aspects of production, pricing policy, but also with the level of labor activity of workers. In the structure of the components of the sustainable and efficient development of livestock industries based on their technological development, the level of professionalism and labor motivation of the personnel of business entities is important. Therefore, the stability of industry personnel and the degree of their labor motivation to achieve high final results depends largely on the mechanism and level of labor incentives. Along with the slow rate of cost recovery in regional livestock farming, the wage rate in dairy and beef cattle breeding is also increasing, varying between 4.5-4.8. The article identifies the main directions for the development of a mechanism for stimulating the work of workers, ensuring the prestige of work and attracting young highly qualified workers in the livestock industries.
