Present study estimated the efficiency of combination of external radiotherapy (ERT) with strontium-89 chloride in comparison with external radiotherapy alone in patients with bone metastasis of prostate cancer and breast cancer. 43 patients received combined treatment and 50 patients received only external radiotherapy. Strontium-89 chloride was entered intravenously 2-4 weeks later after ERT in volume of 4,0 ml, activity 150 MBk. In the investigated group the painful syndrome has been completely stopped at 72% of patients, in control group at 39% of patients. The effect was kept 7,0±5,1 months in the investigated group and 4,1±2,7 months - in the control group. Relapse of a painful syndrome in a zone of a local external irradiation was noted at 9 (21%) patients of the investigated group and at 33 (66 %) patients of the control group.
