The article considers the assessment of the economic efficiency of managing innovation processes. We used a methodological approach for evaluation of the effectiveness of managing innovation processes with regard to the human as a main subject of this process, a carrier of knowledge and information. We emphasized the importance of activities in initial and final groups of the participants of innovation processes - scientists and those who transform knowledge and information into the final consumer product. It was shown that human development turned out to be identical to the development of production and consumption of knowledge and information that are the main components of wealth in modern society. We summarized and explained the multidirectional manner of two approaches while managing innovation processes in the socio-economic system: the focus of the social activity system on the implementation and replenishment of innovation resources. We proved the active role of the state, which is revealed in Russia’s innovation policy, in making relevant decisions for maximum involvement of the existing innovation resources, as well as for the formation of the infrastructure to provide innovation processes. We concluded that it is necessary to use a special analytical approach with a large amount of quantitative and qualitative indicators in assessing the effectiveness of managing innovation processes in the socio-economic system.
