Assessment of the Vologda oblast environmental and economic state based on the method of cluster analysis

The article gives a comprehensive statistical analysis of the impact of production and economic activity on the environment of the Vologda Oblast by multivariate cluster analysis of its districts. The article sets forth the system of indicators, methods and calculation procedures for the formation of the optimal number of clusters. All districts of the Vologda Oblast are divided into four typical groups, the qualitative description and the peculiarities of ecological and economic development of each district are presented in the article.
