Assessment of the milk production competitiveness in agricultural organizations of the Krasnoyarsk region

The purpose of the study is to provide a theoretical justification and practical application of the methodology for assessing the competitiveness of milk production at the level of agricultural enterprises and identifying strategic directions for the development of dairy cattle breeding in them. Objectives of the study: to determine the key indicators that allow assessing the competitiveness of milk producers; conduct a comparative assessment of the competitiveness of milk production in agricultural organizations of the Krasnoyarsk Region; to identify the main strategic directions for the development of dairy cattle breeding in the agricultural enterprises of the region, taking into account the level of their competitiveness. The object of the study is the competitiveness of the dairy cattle breeding industry in agricultural enterprises of the Krasnoyarsk Region. The paper considers the dynamics of the main indicators of the efficiency of production and sale of milk in agricultural organizations of the Krasnoyarsk Region, revealed a decrease in the profitability of dairy cattle breeding over the past 5 years(by 8,7 %), due to high growth rates of production costs at low growth rates of purchase prices. It is concluded that it is necessary for milk producers to justify the strategic directions of their development, taking into account the current market situation. A method for calculating the integral coefficient of competitiveness of milk production is proposed, which allows a comparative assessment of the efficiency of dairy cattle breeding at the level of an economic entity. Approbation of the methodology made it possible to identify 9 groups of enterprises - milk producers, for which, depending on the combination of such parameters as the level of competitiveness and the share of milk sales in total revenue, the following options for strategic alternatives were proposed: reduction in raw milk production; reduction in the cost of production per unit of output; increase in milk production; horizontal integration; direct vertical integration; cooperation; adaptive enhancement. The presented methodology will allow agricultural producers to make informed management decisions on long-term directions for the development of dairy agribusiness.
