This paper describes how the British Psychological Society (the Society) developed standards and qualifications for test users using psychological tests in employment and educational settings. It will also describe the way in which the qualifications and procedures have been set up, managed and monitored in the Society. It will also discuss how and why the Society has become involved in the European Federation of Psychologists' Associations (EFPA) Guidelines and Standards and what changes this has brought to the Society. Finally, it will outline the position on tests and testing that the Society has currently reached and where it is planning to go in the future.
