In the work, an estimation of the degree of local heterogeneity by the method of opto-mathematical analysis of metallographic images of various phases of gray ferrite-pearlitic cast iron formed as a result of the crystallization process, plastic deformation, by revealing and studying the change in the dislocation structure, determining its density with an estimate of the phase dispersion, and taking into account the change in energy parameters: power dissipation power functions and stresses is conducted. In this work, a fundamentally new approach for estimating the structural inhomogeneity on the basis of the degree of phase dispersion, as well as the power dissipation power and power dispersion functions, reflecting the changes in the energy state of the system, as a result of processes occurring during the crystallization and plastic deformation of high-carbon alloys, for example, gray ferrite cast iron is proposed. With the help of such parameters, it is possible to detect dislocations with high accuracy, to investigate changes in such a structure and to estimate its density, depending on the operating conditions. Such an approach lacks the basic shortcomings that exist in the methods of studying the dislocation structure. And it can be suggested for its identification and estimation of variability.
