Assessment of the shadow economy in the regions of Russia

The purpose of the article is to assess the level of the shadow economy in the regions of Russia on the basis of the methodology proposed by the author, based on the method of discrepancies. The study considers the results of measuring the shadow sector, carried out by different authors, and also tested the proposed methodology for 85 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. It has been established that the Russian regions are significantly differentiated in terms of the shadow economy, which is explained by the author of the general uneven spatial development of the Russian Federation, as well as the presence in the regions of specific factors in the formation and growth of the shadow economy.
