Reliability evaluation of interregional correlation of the middle neopleistocene glacial horizons in the center and north of the Russian plain

Бесплатный доступ

A comparative analysis of the glacial stratigraphy has been made for two regions of the Russian Plain: Central and Northern. Using the combination of lithological characteristics, the Dnieper glacial horizon of the Central region is confidently correlated with the Pechora till of the Northern region, and the Moscow glacial horizon - with the Vychegda glacial horizon accordingly. An assemblage of biostratigraphic, lithostratigraphic and geochronological data clearly demonstrates the independence of the Middle Neopleistocene glaciations and allows to correlate the Dnieper and Moscow tills within a vast territory - from the Volga and the Oka to Bolshezemelskaya tundra with certainty.
