Evaluation of general and specific combining abilities of self-pollinated corn lines for grain yield and harvest moisture traits

The objective of the study was to evaluate the general and specific combining abilities (GCA and SCA) of self-pollinated corn lines for yield and harvest moisture of grain. The research was conducted on the fields of the P.P. Lukyanenko National Grain Center in 2020-2022 due to the methodology of the All-Russian Research Institute of Corn for field experiments with corn. The evaluation was based on test-crosses using five testers. The results revealed significant differences in the combining ability of the lines, identifying the most promising lines for further use in breeding programs.
