Estimation of relative risk of somatic diseases among workers of the uranium reprocessing factory in Stepnogorsk

The prevalence and relative risk of chronic internal diseases in 912 workers of the uranium reprocessing factory were studied. These parameters were standardized according to sex, age and length of service of the workers. The comparison group was 788 workers of the bearing plant. The most commonly occurring internal diseases among the URF workers were arterial hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and chronic gastritis, showing both excessive crude and standardized relative risk.
