The article focuses on the theoretical and applied aspects of personnel assessment. The authors propose the author’s interpretation of the category “personnel assessment” from the perspective of an integrated approach, the content is considered It is concluded that in most organizations, personnel assessment does not show adequate effectiveness, which is due to the presence of a formal approach to its implementation or the presence of negative experience in its application. The authors conducted a study of the effectiveness of personnel evaluation at five enterprises in the region, which included an assessment of the evaluation procedures used; conducting interviews with management in order to determine the role and place of personnel evaluation in the strategic management system; analyzing the effectiveness of personnel evaluation. As a result, the hypothesis of a formal approach to staff assessment or its use as a criterion of motivation has been confirmed. It is proved that a permanent staff assessment ensures an increase in labor efficiency, and its results, in comparison with the planned staff characteristics, serve as targets for adjusting (developing) strategic directions for the implementation of personnel policy. The introduction of a clear gradation of indicators for scoring during evaluation and the development of an automatic evaluation mechanism without taking into account the subjectivity factor is proposed as ways to improve the effectiveness of personnel evaluation.
