The purpose of the study is to assess the performance of the piggyback terminal associated with the processing of the incoming flow of semi-trailers in the direction of motor transport - railway and railway - motor vehicles, in order to identify "bottlenecks" and determine the rational value of the incoming flow of semi-trailers. Research objectives: to study the structure of cargo traffic between the countries of Central Asia and Russia, assess the current level of development of piggyback transportation in Russia, calculate the main performance indicators of individual technological sections of the piggyback terminal, analyze the results and propose measures to improve the efficiency of the terminal. Previously, for the calculation, a scheme of a piggyback terminal was developed, which shows the technological zones and the flow of applications between them. In the process of calculation using the provisions of the queuing theory, 13 indicators were determined for each of the 9 service devices, the most important of which are the load of service channels, the probability of denial of service of the application, relative throughput, absolute throughput, the average number of applications in the queue and the average time the application was in the queue. The initial cargo flow was taken based on the volume of work of the existing container terminal. Based on the results of the calculation, a conclusion was made about the efficiency of the technological sections and the absence of "bottlenecks". The calculation is aimed at assessing the operation of the terminal with semi-trailers. In this regard, indicators characterizing the technology of working with wagons were not included in the calculation.
