Assessment of the duration of the functioning of the Katanov colony of swallows Riparia spp. (Southern Siberia)

Using the example of a swallow colony Riparia spp. formerly located near Katanov (Southern Siberia), a variant of estimation of the duration of its functioning is proposed. The basis for this estimate was the results of six en-route counts within the Abakan riverbed from Abaza to Abakan, carried out from 2009 to 2018. If we use the name of the colony Katanovskaya - 2 as a reference for the nesting place of swallows, the duration of its operation could be four years, from 2014 to 2017. An important additional condition for the accuracy of the proposed assessment is the cessation of re-nesting of these birds at Katanov, starting in 2019 and subsequent years.
