Objective evaluation of the anti-inflammatory activity of the liquid extract of leaves and fruits of Japanese stone loch. Materials and methods. The studies were performed on white nonlinear male rats weighing 210230 g. The anti-inflammatory activity of the extract was estimated by simulating chronic inflammation by implanting a sterile cotton ball under the back skin of the laboratory animals. The animals were divided into four groups (n=8): Group 1 (control I) animals receiving an intragastric equivalent volume of distilled water; Group 2 (control II) animals with a model of chronic inflammation not treated; Group 3 (trial 1) -rats receiving intragastric liquid extract of leaves and fruits of Lochus narrow-leavedis in a dose of 20 mg/ kg (in terms of extractive substances not less than 18%) for 7 days, starting from the day of cotton ball implantation; Group 4 (trial 2) animals receiving intragastric comparison drug nimesulide in a dose of 2.5 mg/kg for 7 days, starting from the day of cotton ball implantation. Results. The model of chronic inflammation revealed marked anti-inflammatory activity of the liquid extract of leaves and fruits of Lochus narrow-leaved, which was proved by reduction of leukocyte number, C-reactive protein and IL-6 levels, increase of IL-10 concentration. Conclusions. Thus, our experimental data indicate that the liquid extract of leaves and fruits of Elaeagnus angustifolia growing in the territory of the Astrakhan region has a pronounced antiexudative and antiproliferative effect and may be used as an anti-inflammatory agent after additional studies.
