The paper presents the results of an analytical review of scientific and methodological approaches to the problem of qualified decathletes’ training improving; various aspects of the problem were assessed. As a result some directions of scientific research were determined, which may provide the effectiveness of decathletes training, and create preconditions for increasing the competitiveness of Russian decathletes.
